Sea Turtle Ecology Specialist
Position Overview:
CASE seeks a Sea Turtle Ecology Specialist to support the NEFSC’s Sea Turtle Ecology program in researching population dynamics, distribution, and habitat use. The position involves engaging in fieldwork, managing complex datasets, and conducting statistical analysis to advance conservation and recovery efforts.

Location: Remote/Woods Hole, MA, or other Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) locations
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct sea turtle tagging, tracking, and sampling in the field.
Manage complex databases, including spatial and behavioral data.
Analyze population and health metrics using statistical techniques.
Support education and outreach initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s (BS), Master’s (MS), or Doctorate (PhD) in an environmental science-related field.
Experience in aerial surveys, animal handling, and data analysis.
Experience with sea turtle research and handling.
Proficiency using Esri ArcGIS, Python, R, and database and analytics tools.
Willingness to participate in fieldwork under challenging conditions.
Preferred Skills:
Deep understanding of sea turtle species and related ecosystems along the northern US continental shelf.
Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies related to threatened and endangered species (ESA, MMPA, NEPA).
Experience working in interdisciplinary teams or contributing to collaborative research projects.
Proven track record of publications or contributions to peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Work Schedule and Requirements:
This is a full time role, fully remote, working with the NOAA Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC).
