Founding
Founded in 2012 by Marjorie McGuirk, a career meteorologist and pioneer in climate science and engagement, CASE Consultants International addresses the demand for comprehensive climate adaptation and sustainability solutions. Serving as a bridge between scientific research and real-world applications, CASE strategically assembled a diverse team of experts in meteorology, climatology, environmental science, policy, and related fields, helping shape discourse on climate change adaptation and mitigation at the national and international levels.

Partnerships
Partnerships and engagement are central to CASE's mission. We collaborate closely with STEM educators, non-profits, educational institutions, and local communities to support multiple initiatives designed to ignite interest in science and science-driven careers. We work with public and private sector organizations to promote diversity and inclusion in scientific fields and empower groups at both national and local levels to use evidence-based data for building resilience and advancing environmental understanding and stewardship.

Contribution
In their retirement, founder Marjorie McGuirk (female meteorologist trailblazer), along with Scott Shufford (extensive expertise in community planning and resilience) and Eileen Shea (former Deputy Director of NOAA’s Climate and Global Change Program, now at NCEI), continue as key advisors, playing pivotal roles in shaping CASE's ongoing work in climate science-to-operations activities.

New owner and the future
In 2023 Marjorie retired, handing over the company to Liz Tarquin who still follows the vision and values that the community and colleagues admire so much. Today CASE Consultants International continues to advancing climate research, policy development, and international collaboration, and be a leader in climate adaptation and sustainability. The consultancy remains at the forefront of research, innovation, and strategic planning, helping clients navigate the complex landscape of climate-related challenges and opportunities.

CASE manages this unique meeting, event, and co-working, LEED v4-certified Clean Air space, located minutes from NOAA’s National Center for Environmental Information (NCEI) in the heart of 'Climate City'. It serves as a hub for professionals seeking a distinguished space to co-work and collide with others for inspired collaborations. We plan, facilitate, and host events including NOAA’s annual Climate Application Predictions Workshop (CPAWS) and hold climate ‘bootcamps’ for professionals to learn how to operationalize strategies to address climate change impacts to and across their industries and supply chains.

CASE develops the Climate Change Assessment for Canadian National Rail Safety Improvement Program (RISP), in partnership with BGC Engineering. We quantify and baseline current temperature, precipitation, and other conditions, modeling the direction and magnitude of changes to evaluate the impact of hydrologic and hydrometeorological events (e.g., summer drought, atmospheric rivers) on the rail system.

CASE serves as subject matter expert and assists in developing the Climate Change Assessment Level 0 for Cariboo Road Recovery Project (CRRP) Program Wide Projects in British Columbia, Canada. Our work will inform strategies on improving this critical road system’s resilience to extreme climate and weather events such as landslides and flooding.

CASE supports data operations, data archiving and archives maintenance, environmental metadata management, and user support and training needs for NOAA’s NCEI. Our team helps NCEI transform over 229TB of atmospheric, coastal, geophysical, and oceanic research into products and services that support projects like the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act and the NOAA Blue Economy Initiative. CASE also produced two Value of Data Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk Reduction Sector reports for NCEI.
